Folgers Classic Roast Coffee
CLP-tested canister coffee outside the Clean 16, with exact current packaging verified from Folgers’ live product page.
Why it ranks
Folgers Classic Roast is a safer caution pick than some of the older coffee pages in this repo because it is clearly one of the products CLP tested, it is not part of the Clean 16, and the live Folgers page still shows the exact canister format. CLP said canned coffee skewed higher on phthalates on average than bagged coffee, so this is the right kind of everyday product to flag, even though CLP does not publicly publish a dramatic single-SKU “worst of all 57” score table. I also keep the wording conservative because Illy Classico is a can that made the Clean 16, so packaging is a risk pattern rather than an automatic disqualifier.
Highlights
- Exact current product image verified from the Folgers product page
- CLP-tested product from the published category list
Caveats
- Canister format aligned with higher phthalate levels on average in CLP’s summary, though can packaging alone is not an automatic fail
- No meaningful sourcing transparency on the live product page
- Not in CLP Clean 16
- Choose a Clean 16 bagged coffee instead for daily use
Testing method
CLP — ICP-MS metals + GC-MS phthalates / pesticides + LC-MS glyphosate
